Cari Ray & The Shaky Legs
Cari Ray is an award-winning songwriter and storyteller whose songs manifest in a way that can transport you a back alley juke joint around the early part of the last century. Cari’s influences as a writer and performer are clear and present in her original material, spanning a wide range of early American music… a helping of acoustic blues, a little folk, a rasher of ragtime, and a slight flavor of old-time country.. Her live show serves it up handily with quick wit, tasty fingerstyle guitar, and a huge voice. Add the powerful harmony vocals of percussionist and long-time collaborator, Dionne Ward, and you have Cari Ray & The Shaky Legs. With a unique blend of heart and grit, this power duo will have your heart breaking one minute and your hips shaking the next…all while wondering where they’re hiding the rest of band.
Will Scott is known for his distinctive voice, original roots songwriting, and unique guitar style. Blending blues and Americana, with a dash of rock and outlaw country, his soulful live performances and acclaimed recordings have captivated crowds in the US and Europe for twenty years. Will is the winner of the 2018 Indiana Blues Challenge and twice a finalist at the Independent Music Awards.
Before Wine Fair, our distinguished judges will convene in the Old Mill building to conduct a blind tasting of upwards of 200 wines. It will be their delicious task to select the Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists in each of the following eight categories: "Dry Red", "Dry White", "Sweet Red", "Sweet White", "Dessert", "Sparkling" , "Blush" and "Non-Grape/Non-Traditional". We'll be announcing the medalists that evening, on this website and at www.storyinn.com. The wine which obtains the highest cumulative point total (regardless of category) will receive an additional award, the "Best of Show", and will have bragging rights to being the best wine produced in the Hoosier state. We'll be awarding another Gold, regardless of category, to the highest point wine if the fruit is Indiana grown. Thus, theoretically, it is possible for one wine to clinch three gold medals.
Other Wine Events
For sixteen years, the Story Inn® has been hosting wine dinners. These events typically feature a grape, winery, region or special event (i.e., the release of Beaujolais Nouveau), and is a means by which we build our venerable wine list. Each wine is expertly paired with food, much of it locally sourced or harvested. Seating at these events is typically limited to 30 persons, by reservation only. Visit www.storyinn.com for more details and to book your table or room.
